Guylaine Cyr’s professional training consist of a Certificate in Foundation Visual Arts from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in Fredericton. She graduated in 2004 with a Diploma in Jewellery and Small Object Design from Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, British Columbia. During her four years in college she hoped to have her own studio where she would continue her production and creations.
After spending seven years in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia, Guylaine decided, in the summer of 2006, to take her business closer to her roots, to the urban center of Montreal. Since, she has been supported by the Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Québec to learn silversmithing techniques. As she continues her quest as a metalsmith, she is forever inspired by the endless creative possibilities of her field.
My jewellery is made to last, to survive evolution which we all know can get real bumpy at times. My instincts are driven by my emotions and passions, and I truly follow them. I apply this philosophy to the creation of my work. Since I found my craft, I stopped questioning and started living.
